Tubefreeks - Power Groove Rockers Tubefreeks were formed from the ashes of such groups as STP, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, and Aerosmith. "We just blend it all together and make our sound into a psychedelic, hard, power packed metal kind of thing" asserts the enigmatic fronting freek Paul van Valkenburgh. Tubefreeks music is assuredly heavy, vividly exciting, and ultimately groovin', fueled by guitarist Shawn Vickers' fluid, sometimes psychotic, and always compelling leads and the dynamic, pulsing rhythms of bassist Mike Stehr and drummer Geoff Burrell. Throw in the unique vocal styling of van Valkenburgh in the strange brew and the resulting concoction is rock solid originality. Tubefreeks 3 full length albums are testaments to their unrivaled dynamics and highlights their ability to capture the passion and aggression of human experiences. Ultimately their goal is "to open up the PA and blow it out" van Valkenburgh concedes. Vickers adds, "We just kick the sh*t out of 'em and then split!". Take a risk...be Tubefreek(ed).    www.tubefreeks.com

The Medicine Show - In a northern suburb of Brisbane in Queensland Australia, the Medicine Show was conceived, labored, born and then nurtured. The music is a true suburban jambalaya of influence ranging form Delta Blues through to post WWII Chicago Blues to REAL Country and Hillbilly music. Along with this is generous dash of modern alternative vibe. A trio of fine musicians in the tradition of the Dirty Three, the Bad Seeds, and Tom Waits  The Medicine Show has performed many times, all along the east coast of Australia and enjoys regular radio airplay through community radio stations around the country. The Medicine Show receives a lot of radio support throughout the E.U. and the United States and Japan, via internet radio. We have also been approached to submit works for various soundtrack productions, of these the most exciting to date would be the Suicide Girls Television Series, which is currently in production .So ostensibly, the band is doing alright. http://www.myspace.com/themedicineshownet

Kevin Gullickson started his work in the independent music industry with his first release of a 4-song EP which received radio play in his hometown of Rochester, MN. Shortly after, he followed up with a single which received radio play in the Minneapolis/St Paul area.
Kevin traveled throughout Europe to develop his own sound and style which he later developed with a band The Blokes, which was an instant success in the Minneapolis/St Paul club scene including First Avenue. Kevin moved to New York City where he continued writing, recording and playing the clubs as a solo musician. During the course of these years, Kevin had been contacted by 5 major record companies and 3 Grammy Award winning producers, expressing interest in his music.

In the last few years, Kevin and his wife, Kimberly released three CDs as 2EDGE, original contemporary Christian music. 2EDGE music has been heard on over 65 Christian radio stations throughout the US, Canada and the UK and online stations internationally. In
addition, 2EDGE has had over 50,000 downloads of their music from over 50 countries worldwide.

In 2009 Kevin released RADIO DRIVE "Dream the Impossible". This new CD features 8 original alternative pop rock songs drawing from his earlier musical influences of the Beatles to the contemporary sounds of Peter Gabriel, REM and U2. Songs from "Dream the
Impossible" have been aired on college radio stations around the country and online stations around the world.

In November 2009 Kevin responded to a national song search for Sudan Hope, a humanitarian effort to help the people of Sudan. His song "One Life to Give" was chosen and appeared at a Hollywood fundraising event to sing this song live. Kevin just finished his second CD "Life Today" featuring 10 original songs which is scheduled for release in May 2010. www.radio-drive.com

A Message from the 80's Rock God...

Here it is songwriters and original music fans – a place you can call home. There are many websites for music but none quite like this. Introducing the original artist’s haven – a streaming internet “radio station” for those with talent trying to make a name for themselves.

When I was young, I remember my passion for music. I received my first guitar when I was seven. I struggled with it at first and became discouraged because I wanted to be able to do it so badly, but my adolescent fingers just wouldn’t fit around that fat neck. It sat in the attic for several years until I pulled it out again sometime around puberty. I wiped the dust off and removed the strings that had broken over the years. Maybe that’s what helped me stick with it – I started out with only two of the six strings.

My brother was heavy into KISS at the time and I quickly learned to play those two strings along with Deuce, Strutter, and Firehouse from KISS Alive!. I saved any money I could to buy more strings. Soon I had a whole set. My sister’s boyfriend showed me some bar chords and a couple of AC/DC tunes. I spent the next six months banging out Sin City. High Voltage and Let There be Rock.

Soon, Van Halen came onto the scene. At that time two things happened. First, I met up with a drummer whose brother was an excellent lead guitarist in a local band called Basement Floor. He would be upstairs riffing on scales I had never heard before. Occasionally, he would come down to the basement where we were jamming and show me some licks. He helped me “see” the next level. Second, a friend of mine gave me his sister’s old record player. Back in the day records would play at 33 1/3 speeds. This one had a switch for 16 ½ speed. I figured out right away that the fast leads Van Halen and Angus were playing were now ½ speed for me and a full octave lower. That helped me “get” to another level. I was on my way, but to where?

I was soon good enough to join a local Baltimore band called "Jammer" in Essex, Maryland. They were older then I was at the time. They were more seasoned and “well” connected. Which basically meant, they had gigs. While the rest of the kids in Perry Hall High School were heading to the Friday night football game to watch the Gators play, I would be loading my stuff up to set up at one of the local bars. I was seventeen then and the drinking age was eighteen.

I jumped ship after a while to another band called "Unity". We played the local circuit for a while and developed a decent following. After a while, playing cover tunes wasn’t happening for me and I found a bunch of guys that were interested in doing the same thing as me - creating our own sounds. We spent hours at each others houses milling over ideas, writing phrases, rewriting chorus, lyrics, transitions etc. We started mixing some of them in our live shows and received pretty good feedback. Soon, we were off to the recording studio forking over more time and money to get our ideas on tape and possibly shop them around.

We wrote our cover letter, hired a photographer, duped our tapes and mailed them off to any address we could find. I wonder now if anyone even heard those tapes. Occasionally we’d get our hopes up when we’d score some minimal airtime on the local radio station for battle of the bands. Once, we had a live interview with some songs mixed in between questions. That was cool, but limited to that event. It was difficult back to get the vital exposure you needed. There was no way to listen to your favorite local bands like Kix, Crack the Sky, and The Ravens (Rob Fahey) at your house or at work.

In the internet age just about everyone has there own website or Myspace page with their music available. But we still needed a way to link it all together - to make it easy to find a local band they hadn’t known about previously but like the chops. That’s where Kuta Music comes in. Kuta music streams the original music randomly so everyone gets equal airtime all the time. We provide links to your site so that if someone likes what they are hearing, they have a way to find out more about you or get your contact information, sort of like an audio songwriters market. Now, the right musician’s are accessible to the right people. The record producer in L.A. can tune into the website while filling out his paper work. No need to go through the backlog of CD’s stacked in an oversized laundry bin in the corner of his office. No need to empty the trash bin every few hours of discarded CD’s not to his liking. No need to sort through endless streams of paper to find contact information. It’s all here on Kuta Music. As soon as he hears that first lick from Kuta – “I Like Girls”, he’ll fumble through he papers on his desk to find his mouse to wake up the computer monitor that has fallen asleep. He’ll see that its vintage “KUTA” playing that song and be able to find them easily by clicking on the links page. It will be at that time my friends that I will have to abandon my website to tour the world with the first of my many CD’s bringing back that 80’s sound. So, jump aboard now while the going is good and the price is right (free). Because you never know where or when that opportunity is going to come.
